First, a cool gel is applied to the skin. The glass crystal of the IPL hand piece is then gently applied to the area being treated, sending pulses of light to safely penetrate the skin. This disables hundreds of hair follicles simultaneously.
You may feel a mild sting or pinch, similar to the snap of a rubber band, but no local anesthesia or pain medication is needed. When the gel is removed, much of the hair is wiped off with it. The remaining hair in the treated areas falls out within a week or two.
